Amphetamine addiction dangers

There are a great deal of amphetamine dangers to look or for.

The potential for danger when taking amphetamine is as widespread as the use of this drug.  Whenever a user takes amphetamine, either for recreational use or as prescribed, there is a risk of overdose, serious side effects, and even the potential for death to occur.  The dangers of amphetamine use may not even be realized until it’s too late and the damage has already been done.

Amphetamine dangers include:

  • Amphetamine overdose
  • Death
  • Long-term side effects
  • Permanent brain damage
  • Permanent neurological damage
  • Psychosis
  • Amphetamine toxicity

Additionally, there are inherent dangers with mixing amphetamines with other drugs such as when amphetamines and alcohol are abused or when amphetamine is used in conjunction with other prescription medications.  Using amphetamine with any other stimulant can have a serious negative impact on the user as can using amphetamine while under the influence of benzodiazepines such as Xanax or valium.

The dangers of amphetamine abuse increase when amphetamine is abused regularly, when the drug is used in conjunction with other substances or when large amounts of amphetamine are used.  There are also increased risks associated with using amphetamines for a prolonged period of time or binging on amphetamine.  The crash that comes following an amphetamine binge can lead to serious health complications.

Like all medications, even if you are prescribed amphetamine for a legitimate reason, you should make sure that the risks of using the medication do not outweigh the rewards.  Amphetamine is a habit-forming drug that can lead to long-term health and psychiatric effects that may or may not go away with treatment, care and time.  Be sure you know the dangers of amphetamine use before you take any drug that contains amphetamine.
